Syracuse, N.Y. — The volunteer board that provides independent reviews of misconduct complaints against Syracuse police officers has a new member to replace a person who only attended three monthly meetings over the past 15 months.

The Common Council on Monday unanimously appointed North Side resident Octavia Gernhardt to the Citizen Review Board .
