Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Susan Monarez is set to testify at a hearing that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. pressured her to support vaccine recommendations without reviewing scientific evidence.

Monarez will appear before the Senate's health committee on Wednesday to discuss her firing from the CDC. She was selected by Kennedy and nominated by President Donald Trump for the CDC role but was later fired several weeks into the job over disagreements on vaccine policies.

The Associated Press reported that the Senate hearing will revolve around the impact the tension at the CDC, which is responsible for making vaccine recommendations to the public, will have on children's health.
