LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness issued its Suicide Fatality Report for Louisville and Jefferson County.

Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, the report highlights a growing need for mental health awareness. Researchers looked at deaths from 2019 to 2023.

Director of the Crisis Information Center at Seven County Services and 988 Geneva Robinson said it’s estimated that there is a death by suicide every 11 minutes in the United States.

“It is very critical that we are aware as a community that death by suicide is really a public health issue for all of us,” said Robinson.
