The Lake County commissioners received three possible budgets at its Sept. 16 meeting. None were necessarily a welcome sight.

All three options, which each total over $11 million, would require the county to take over $540,000 from its reserve fund, with the most costly reaching $750,000. The more expensive budgets, which contained higher wage increases for staff, were quickly disposed of for being unfeasible. But changes will have to be made before or during an upcoming special meeting if the county wants to avoid taking out $540,000 from its dwindling reserve fund. ×
