Air traffic controllers expressed concern that a Boston-bound Spirit flight was flying too close to Air Force One as both traversed New York skies Tuesday, radio communications show, though a source with direct knowledge of the situation tells NBC News a preliminary probe shows the two aircraft stayed far enough apart.
The commercial flight was en route from Fort Lauderdale as President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump went wheels up for their trip to the U.K. around 10 a.m., NBC News reports.
According to live air traffic control audio, at some point, an air traffic controller in New York warned the Spirit flight multiple times to veer away from the other aircraft, saying, "I'm sure you can see who it is."
