ST PAUL, Minn. — Governor Tim Walz has issued an executive order directing Minnesota state agencies to take additional steps to prevent fraud, including the creation of a new statewide Inspector General's office. The announcement comes just one day after the reported firing of a DHS Assistant Commissioner of Homelessness & Housing Supports.
The executive order follows a tumultuous stretch during which Minnesota's state-administered programs have been rocked by fraud, including the Feeding Our Future scandal, cases involving alleged false billing by autism centers and personal care attendant businesses, and the Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program, which has been documented extensively by KARE 11's Housing Hustle Investigation.
