The Met Office has forecast that temperatures in the UK could reach 27C in the coming days, after a stint of cooler, wetter weather .
After a wet start to September, a "shift" in the weather has been predicted by the Met Office and temperatures could lift as high as 25C to 27C this week, according to the Met Office.
The UK weather agency said: "By Friday, the flow turns more southerly over the southeast. If cloud breaks sufficiently, temperatures could lift into the mid‑20s, 25 to 27C is on the table for East Anglia and the southeast, while the far north will stay fresher and showery."
Before Friday though, there is expected to be more heavy rain and strong winds across the country before high pressure makes a brief return.
