ATLANTA — As the race for Georgia governor widens, reaction is pouring in from the newest addition to the Democratic field.

Former Republican Lt. Gov Geoff Duncan announced on Tuesday that he is running for Georgia's top job as a Democrat.

While serving as Lieutenant Governor under Gov. Brian Kemp, Duncan backed Georgia's heartbeat bill, championed second amendment rights, and backed Donald Trump and the "Make America Great Again" movement.

In the past 12 months, Duncan changed course on the public stage. Before switching parties, Duncan became one of the few Republican voices to criticize President Donald Trump and his handling of the 2020 election in Georgia.
