After more than two decades, the original "Blue's Clues" host is back to again ask listeners, old and new, "What do you think?"
"Alive With Steve Burns" is the podcast that "listens back," according to its official description. Featuring an album cover with Burns posing in a "listening" position with a hand to his ear, in a callback to his "Blues Clues" days, the pod advertises itself as the grown-up evolution of the Nickelodeon show.
"Back then it was letters and numbers and graham crackers," says the show's synopsis. "Now it’s death, sex, taxes, and all the big, messy questions of being alive."
Burns, 51, initially rose to fame while hosting Nickelodeon's "Blue's Clues," a problem-solving show for preschool-aged kids, from 1996 to 2002. He reemerged as a beloved figure on social media when, in 2021, he shared a heartfelt message online promising his viewers that "after all these years, I never forgot you."
Adults, who were once children watching Burns, responded strongly, saying his presence and his message brought them great comfort. The message effectively relaunched Burns' career and put him back in the spotlight.
What is "Alive With Steve Burns" about?
Burns told People that "Alive" is "kind of the same thing" as "Blue Clues," but scaled for the adult audience he didn't realize he had until his 2021 post went viral.
"I'm not gonna be speaking to furniture, and there are no magical, felt-puzzle-solving puppies to be found. But this is a podcast about you, and you are the celebrity guest on every episode. I am asking your opinion," he told the magazine.
Each week, a new guest appears on the show to have a "genuine and respectful dialogue between two people just trying to figure it out, together," according to the show's synopsis. Touching on everything from student loans to the American dream, the show promises Burn's signature tender approach as he and guests consider "what it really means to be Alive."
