Update: Gas leak at Dauphin County UPMC facility resolved after early morning incident

A gas leak caused evacuations at a Dauphin County UPMC location.

At around 7:30 a.m., emergency officials were called to the intersection of Old Post Road and Sturbridge Drive after a vehicle struck the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, on 2808 Old Post Road, Susquehanna Twp., causing a gas leak.

Dispatch confirmed that officials evacuated people from the UPMC and a day care center nearby. UGI has been called to shut off the gas line.

Linglestown Road between Old Post Road and Sturbridge Drive was also closed due to the incident. Susquehanna Township Public Safety Director Rob Martin told PennLive the road was back open by 9:20 a.m.
