BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The City of Brooksville and Hernando County are joining forces to create a unified fire and rescue system. The City of Brooksville Fire Department will officially merge with Hernando County Fire Rescue on October 1, 2025. This move is designed to improve emergency services for all residents and businesses in the city.

Starting October 1 at 8:00 a.m., Hernando County Fire Rescue will be fully in charge of fire suppression, prevention, rescue, and medical emergency responses within Brooksville. This consolidation is a strategic effort to bolster public safety and streamline operations across the region.
