A cat has been found dead with a small plastic bag 'tied tightly around his head', sparking an RSPCA appeal.

The tabby cat was discovered in woodland in the Merry Hill area of Wolverhampton on Saturday, August 2.

The RSPCA said the moggy - which a large, neutered male with no microchip or collar - was found by a member of public near Strathfield Walk.

The cat's body was taken to a local veterinary practice.
