Kathleen Kane, the former Pennsylvania attorney general who was convicted of perjury and obstruction nearly a decade ago after an attempt to smear a perceived rival prosecutor, launched a podcast this week casting her story as one of perseverance and encouragement for listeners who might find themselves in “trials and tribulations.”

“What I did go through felt to me … like one big eye, literally standing in the middle of a hurricane and I had no control over my life or destiny or anything at that point,” Kane told her niece, Alexandra Goffer, in an interview for Through the HurriKane on Spotify.

Kane was the first Democrat and first woman to be Pennsylvania attorney general when she was elected in 2012. She was considered a rising political star in the Democratic Party.
