EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. ( WAFB /Gray News) – A teacher was arrested at a middle school in Baton Rouge after she was allegedly caught with cocaine during a random drug search Tuesday.

A drug dog was at Westdale Middle School when Virginia Somers, 47, was reportedly found with cocaine inside of a wallet. The drugs were tested and confirmed to be cocaine, sources said.

Officials said that Somers told them that the cocaine belonged to a friend who gave it to her at the LSU football tailgate Saturday.

When searching Somers’ car, officials reportedly found marijuana and pipes.

Somers now faces possession charges for drugs and paraphernalia.

Somers teaches Math Intervention at Westdale Middle School and has been teaching for more than a decade, officials said.
