Just a glance through the Kingston Frontenacs’ line-up and the players’ bios suggests that GM Kory Cooper’s work over the summer was more interesting than previous ones. Article content Article content

By “interesting,” I’m not intending its standard meaning, that is, simply intriguing and worth noting. No, I’m applying it here as an echo of the ancient Asian saying: “May you live in interesting times.”

That line sounds like good wishes, even a blessing, but taking it that way would be a misreading. The words are a veiled curse.

Life is best enjoyed presumably in settled, predictable circumstances and there’s nothing in hockey less settled and more disrupted than the Canadian Hockey League and its member leagues
