KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Two of three people charged with stealing more than $100,000 from the Knox County Emergency Rental Assistance Program have a new plea date: Oct. 22.

It’s the latest update in the cases of former Knox County Grants and Community Development employee Amanda McKay, former Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (KCCAC) employee Jennifer Harper and Harper’s husband, James.

The three were accused late last year of playing a part in misappropriating COVID-era relief money. According to a report from the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office, McKay took almost $90,000 and the other two took around $13,000.
