CINCINNATI (WXIX/ENQUIRER) - The man accused of killing a Cincinnati Children’s Hospital employee back in 2019 was sentenced after he pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Delrico Peoples, 28, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the killing of 18-year-old Brandon Phoenix .

Peoples was facing two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault when he was indicted in 2022. Years later, he pleaded guilty to one count each of felonious assault and involuntary manslaughter.

The murder happened in the 5400 block of Colerain Avenue at 1:24 p.m. June 5, 2019.

Phoenix was waiting at a bus stop to go to his job at Children’s Hospital when he was hit by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting, according to FOX19 NOW’s previous coverage.
