EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A 29-year-old Evansville woman is in jail and charged with child neglect.

The investigation into Alendia Joinvil began in April after officers were dispatched to a run where three children were left unattended in a vehicle.

A few days later, police say followed up with Joinvil at her residence.

According to an affidavit, the home smelled of rotten food and was visibly dirty with food on floors and the wall.

Police say they found at least seven knives scattered on the floor throughout the home.

Officers say a substance that appeared to be human feces was observed on the high chair and multiple places on the carpet.

Police say two 5-year-olds were in the home and have undiagnosed developmental delays.
