DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Deputies in Dorchester County have arrested two people in connection with a neighborhood shooting that left one person injured at the end of August.

Law enforcement was notified on Aug. 28 that an individual had shown up at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators learned the victim had been shot on Roberta Drive in Summerville. The following day, on Aug. 29, deputies arrested 22-year-old Kayla Leanne Merideth for obstruction of justice.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the US Marshals Task Force arrested Elbert Rudel Aiken III, 32, and he is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

An investigation is ongoing.
