HAMILTON, Ohio —
Officials are providing an update after a routine maintenance inspection in Hamilton led to the discovery of a human skull last month.
The remains were discovered Aug. 27, when according to the Hamilton Police Department, the inspection was for a sewer system near the intersection of 3rd Street and Market Street. Advertisement
Police said a third-party contractor discovered “what appeared to be human bones in the sewer system.”
Hamilton police worked with the city’s fire department, the Hamilton Department of Infrastructure and the Butler County Coroner’s Office to recover the bones.
Upon further inspection, the remains were determined to be a human skull. No other human remains were found in the area.
