GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WVLT) - A mother bear and her two cubs were caught on camera stealing a cooler from a vacationing family in Gatlinburg.

Video sent into CBS News by Kari Schmidt shows the bear approach the family’s truck at Wild Oaks Resort, snap up a cooler and run away.

It’s not uncommon to run into bears in the Smokies. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has long advocated for a hands-off approach when it comes to bear encounters. This, to avoid letting bears become too comfortable around humans, which can lead to dangerous encounters.
