"Big smoke cloud back there": A Swiss Air plane spit out flames during takeoff at Boston's Logan International Airport. The FAA said they will investigate the incident.

Video footage captured flames shooting from the engine of a Swiss International Air Lines plane during an attempted takeoff at Boston's Logan International Airport this week.

The incident involved Swiss Flight 55 bound for Zurich and took place the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 16, according to FlightAware and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The FAA said in a statement provided to USA TODAY the crew stopped their takeoff "due to engine issues" about 6:25 p.m. local time. The agency did not elaborate further.

Footage shows the plane moving on the tarmac before flames and smoke erupt from its engine on the aircraft's right wing.

Pilots then appear to slow the plane down and it eventually comes to a stop and a cloud of smoke appears behind the aircraft.

"Big smoke cloud back there," a person who shot the video is heard saying over the footage.

Emergency vehicles are then seen arriving before the aircraft is later moved off the runway.

No injuries were reported.

USA TODAY has reached out to Swiss Air.
