EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — An Evansville mother was arrested for neglect and then released from jail on a $750 bond after police say three kids were removed from her apartment.

In April, officers say they responded to a call about three children being left unattended in a vehicle, leading to a "Child in Need of Services" report.

A few days later, DCS case workers said they followed up at the apartment of 29-year-old Alendia Joinvil on East Michigan Street, where they were met with the overwhelming stench of rotten food.

According to EPD, the home was dirty with food on the floor and walls, and case workers noticed an unknown oil-like substance on the floor, making it slippery.
