MADISON (WKOW) — The union representing Madison city operators and mechanics who provide public transportation services is praising the new contract reached with Metro Transit .

Metro Transit and Teamsters Local 120 announced a new agreement last Friday , Sept. 12.

Teamsters Local 120 members will receive a 3% pay raise each year to help cover inflation and the cost of living in Wisconsin. The contract also includes faster accrual of vacation hours and additional resources for driver safety.

"I’m proud of this contract negotiation and the negotiating team for battling to get the best contract I have seen in my almost 22 years as a Teamster,” said Matt Sarenich, a transit operator and chief steward at Local 120, in a statement released on Wednesday. “This was a huge win and it’s why
