With the state’s gubernatorial election about six weeks away, a new Quinnipiac University poll gives Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill an eight-point lead over her Republican opponent, former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli.
Who was polled?
The poll, which is the first conducted by Quinnipiac in New Jersey since the 2018 U.S. Senate race between former Sen. Bob Menendez and Bob Hugin, was conducted last week and only included about 1,200 likely voters.
Who can vote?
New Jersey has 6,598,586 registered voters as of Sept. 1, including 2,529,708 registered Democrats and 1,667,912 registered Republicans.
Sherrill maintains polling leads
