VERNON, N.J. (PIX11) -- A bear in Vernon, New Jersey, was caught on video roaming the aisles of a local Dollar General Store on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Department of Environmental Protection, the bear entered the store around 3:45 p.m.

Customer Sean Clarkin managed to guide the bear out. He said he wasn’t afraid for his safety because he thought the bear appeared sick.

“I’m a people person,” said Clarkin. “Maybe I’m a bear person, too. I don’t know. But I didn’t get a bad vibe from this guy. He just didn’t seem well. I just walked him out, encouraged him to follow my calm, happy voice. And he did.”

The DEP said one woman was hospitalized for a leg injury, possibly a bite.
