A man was sentenced for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs after his felony assault with a weapon charge was dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

Edmund Taylor Madarassy, who was 26 when charged, was given a three-year suspended sentence to the Department of Corrections.

Madarassy was originally charged in December 2023 with felony assault with a weapon, felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and misdemeanor criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

His other two counts were dismissed by prosecutors after signing a plea agreement in July.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Neill and Fuller avenues on Dec. 23, 2023, for a report of an assault, according to court documents.
