SOUTHINGTON, CT. (WFSB) - The arrest of a wanted man in Southington delayed school dismissal Wednesday.

Police say that at around 1:30 p.m., they got word that 39-year-old Angel Luis Rivera Jr. was in the area of Darling Street.

A protective order had prohibited him from being in the area. He also had two active arrest warrants for failing to appear in court and violating the conditions of his release connected to a family violence arrest earlier this month.

Police said that Rivera had removed his court-ordered GPS ankle monitor following his release. He was also believed to possibly be armed.

Students at schools in the area were held from dismissal as a precaution while police worked in the area.

Officers made contact at the apartment where it was believed that Rivera was and he fled
