EAGAN, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy is in a boot and "responding well" to treatment this week after suffering a high ankle sprain Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
At his weekly press conference, Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell provided an update on the second-year quarterback, saying he's still heavily involved in meetings and game planning.
"He's still in the early stages of it," O'Connell said. "I know, from a standpoint of some of the things we were hoping [to see] early on, we've seen some of that and it'll continue hopefully,"
O'Connell said McCarthy injured his ankle on a scramble late in the third quarter, but finished the game. It was when he arrived at the facility on Monday that team officials became aware of the severity of the injury. O'Connel
