Vizient has awarded more than 120 health systems and hospitals for their clinical quality and sustainability practices. The awards are based on Vizient’s Quality and Accountability Study, which evaluates performance improvement across more than 1,400 healthcare facilities. Six domains in patient care quality were measured: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation in care. 

Three health systems received two awards. New York City-based NYU Langone Health and Salt Lake City-based University of Utah Health each received an ambulatory quality award, and Stanford (Calif.) Health Care received a sustainability excellence award. All three were also named a top academic medical center.  Here are the recipients of this year’s excellence awards. Editor’s note:
