Trevor Penning has been out since Aug. 10 with a turf toe injury that occurred in a preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

But the New Orleans Saints offensive lineman may be nearing a return.

Penning practiced Wednesday on a limited basis, a sign that the former first rounder could be available for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Before his injury, Penning was expected to start at left guard for the Saints.

Coach Kellen Moore said "we'll have to see" when asked if Penning could play against the Seahawks.

Penning’s return also could be coming at a good time for the Saints. Dillon Radunz, who had filled in during Penning’s absence, missed Wednesday’s session with an injury.
