An investigation continues into the death of an 83-year-old Rockledge woman who was seen on video driving through railway crossing arms and into the path of a Brightline passenger train.
Rockledge police identified the woman killed as 83-year-old Elenora Mitchell, who was eastbound on Eyster Boulevard near U.S. 1 at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, when her car was struck by the southbound train.
The impact of the crash split Mitchell’s vehicle in half, with a portion of the vehicle dragged for several hundred yards before the train came to a stop.
