A trial on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude officers and reckless endangerment ended almost as soon as it began Wednesday when the defendant opted to take a “no contest” plea after opening statements.
Jaquon Evans Stanford, 27, Aston, had selected a jury and was set to go to trial on both counts before Common Pleas Court Judge Mary Alice Brennan.
Assistant District Attorney Amy Cappelli told the jurors in her opening that Evans Stanford was charged Jan. 19 after Chester Officer Michael Bramble saw him going around other vehicles that had stopped at a steady red light at Edgmont and 11th streets, and continuing through the intersection.
