TOPEKA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Board of Regents has approved a unified appropriations request for the state’s public higher education system for the 2027 fiscal year.
The request would provide the system with $4.6 million less than was appropriated for higher education in the 2026 fiscal year. The request includes $16.3 million in continued support that was provided for student success initiatives, as well as resuming funding the Kansas Blueprint for Literacy, support projects to address the state's future energy needs, funding for Washburn University to address workforce development, and an initiative to support Kansans who have some college credit to return to finish a degree in support of the state’s future workforce needs.
