SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A Sumter County woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 378 on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Sumter County Coroner, 32-year-old Ashton Marie Galloway was struck by a vehicle on Highway 378 near Carter Road around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Galloway died from her injuries on the scene, according to the coroner. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at The Medical University of South Carolina.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
