The Sacramento chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists is hosting its second annual Journalism Day event this weekend, inviting high school and college journalism students to attend.
Lanaya Lewis, chair of the Journalism Day planning committee, joined KCRA 3 to preview the event.
She said this year’s goal is to make sure that students “are walking away with learning something.”
A workshop with hands-on training will involve tips for multimedia journalists.
“Internships are very scarce these days and it’s also super competitive,” she said. “So it was important for NABJ Sacramento to have an event that’s really about giving back to the next generation of journalists.”
