WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - WSU Tech has officially named its truck lab the Kenworth Heavy Truck Lab, recognizing a partnership with the truck dealer.

As part of the collaboration, Kenworth donated a 2019 truck, a 2022 Cummins engine and other diesel engine components. The equipment will allow students pursuing careers in the heavy vehicle industry to gain hands-on training with real-world items.

The demand for workers in the field is expected to grow. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for heavy vehicle service technicians is projected to rise 6% over the next nine years, creating about 2,100 job openings annually.
