SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - It’s been a rough start to the season for Notre Dame football.
As we all know, the Fighting Irish have begun the year 0-2, including a heartbreaking one-point loss to Texas A&M this past Saturday.
And through it all, it’s been clear that the team has some major issues on defense.
Through the first two games, Notre Dame has given up 68 total points. The 41 points allowed to the Aggies was the most ever for a Marcus Freeman-led Irish team. Previously, the last time Notre Dame gave up that many points in a game was way back in 2019 when the Irish lost 45-14 to Michigan.
So, it’s obviously been a major focus of improvement for the unit now led by Chris Ash in his first season in South Bend.
As the team prepares to face Purdue, they know they have a lot to work
