CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Past due payments on car loans, credit cards, and personal loans are just a few reasons why FICO reports credit scores across the nation are seeing their fastest drop since 2009.

Many college students across the nation can relate to SEMO Junior, Ginny Young, “Some of the stuff that I struggle with is being like completely on my own. So like working through school, paying for my own school, paying for everything by myself.”

According to FICO, Gen Z borrowers experienced the biggest credit score decline of any age group since 2020.

“I just buy everything on my credit card and pay it back immediately and just live within my means,” Young said.
