Brad Gushue, 45, told the country Wednesday this will be his last season of competitive curling. Article content Article content

“This has not been an easy decision,” said Gushue via video message posted on his team’s social media. “I love curling. It’s been my passion since I first stepped on the ice and played my first end. I’ve struggled with leaving it all behind.

“Curling is a game I love — lots of ups and downs, sometimes all in a single game. I’ll miss it more than I can express.”

Gushue couldn’t get through the message without needing to take a pause, his eyes welling up with tears.
