Ford has issued a recall of more than 100,000 Ranger pickup trucks because of a safety defect with those vehicles’ side curtain airbags.
Those side airbags could contact a flange inside the vehicle and tear as they deploy, according to the recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker issued the recall last month after the NHTSA discovered the defect during a test of the airbags conducted in June. The vehicle passed the test, but a slit was found on one of the side airbags.
The recall affects 100,900 Rangers, and Ford said letters had been sent to owners of the vehicles. The company said owners should take their vehicles to a local dealer so they could be inspected and outfitted with protective shields. Parts to perman
