Fruit flies can be a problem for some homes all year round, but they become even more of an issue in late summer and spring.

Warm temperatures accelerate their life cycle, making conditions ideal for breeding and population growth.

While present year-round, fruit flies are most bothersome during August, September, and October due to ripe fruit and vegetables often present in homes. It takes around eight to 10 days for them to progress from egg to adulthood, reproducing at a very fast rate.

According to Pest Defence , fruit flies are very small, usually measuring at around 3mm long. Their body is black on top and grey underneath, however they can appear to be brown or tan, with distinctive red eyes.
