BOSTON (WWLP) - The Massachusetts state government is investing $1.2 billion in local roads and bridges, aiming to improve the state's infrastructure.
The funding includes an increase in Chapter 90 funding from $200 million to $300 million, dedicated to local city and town projects. Additional investments will support the Department of Transportation's bridge and pavement program, as well as repairs for culverts and small bridges.
Governor Maura Healey emphasized the importance of the investment, stating, "We're not there yet. We have work to do. But now we have the resources, we have the plan, and we have the partnership to get this done."
Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll highlighted the inclusive nature of the funding, saying, "We ensure no neighborhood is left behind and every commun
