Reese Witherspoon is opening up about not being cast in the Gone Girl movie.

The 49-year-old actress and producer really wanted to star in the film adaptation, and even had author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn ‘s blessing. However, the director, David Fincher did not want to cast her.

While appearing on Las Culturistas , Reese explained what went wrong and why she wasn’t cast to play Amy Dunne, which ended up going to Rosamund Pike .

“ David sat me down – and this is not on David – but David ’s like, ‘You’re totally wrong for this part, and I’m not putting you in it,’” Reese told hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers .

Reese explained that Gone Girl was the film that started her producing career.
