Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is coming off what its director called a summer with areas of exciting growth.
Director Steve McDaniel told City Council Tuesday that thousands attended Parks and Recreation programs this summer, including 1,551 kids at Franke Park’s summer day camp, 1,135 kids at Salomon Farm Day Camp and and 1,000 registered with Lifetime Sports Academy. More than 12,100 attended youth center programs that served 13,271 meals.
“What really stands out is the increase in daily participation,” he said. “Compared to last year, tennis lessons rose by 113.5%, swimming lessons by 19.6% and golf lessons by nearly 8%.”
McDaniel said Farmin' Fun Day Camp and Salomon Farm Park had over 125 more campers this year than 2024. Franke Park Day camp decreased by 49 participants. He said
