BENTON, Ark. - Life’s a marathon, not a sprint. For 83-year-old Maurice Robinson of Benton, it’s more than a metaphor.
Over Labor Day weekend, he proved it by running 151 miles in the "Race for the Ages" in Manchester, Tennessee.
Robinson began running more than 25 years ago, encouraged by his best friend Pete. What started with 5Ks eventually grew into ultramarathons.
“I raise my hand a lot of times and say thank you, Lord, for giving me this body,” Robinson said. “You and my parents have done me well.”
Running has taken him across the country, earned him letters from senators, and brought him more trophies and recognition than many achieve in a lifetime. But this year’s race was different.
