Riverside County was placed under a flash flood warning by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 2:59 p.m. The warning is in effect until 6 p.m.
“At 2:59 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly,” states the NWS Phoenix AZ . “Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.”
The warning is for Chiriaco Summit and Cottonwood Visitor. Cottonwood Campground and BLM Joshua Tree South Campground.
According to the NWS, “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in ve
