WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Wake Forest University will offer free tuition to enrolled North Carolina residents whose family makes less than $200,000.

The school announced Wednesday that the “North Carolina Gateway to Wake Forest University” initiative will take effect in fall 2026.

For in-state students with a family income less than $100,000, financial aid will cover the cost of standard living expenses in addition to the full cost of tuition. Those with an income between $200,000 and $300,000 will be eligible for financial aid covering 50% of tuition.

Wake's tuition this fall costs $70,332, with estimates of $12,054 for housing, on or off-campus.
