OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) -- Owensboro city leaders broke ground on the new site of a Kroger marketplace on September 17.

Company officials say the marketplace is a different style Kroger that has not yet seen the light of day in the city.

Besides being able to purchase everyday groceries they say customers will also have an abundance of home goods and clothing to shop through.

The marketplace groundbreaking comes off the heels of the upcoming Publix, located right across the street, to which company officials say it has a lot to do with the city's growth.
