NEW HOPE, Minn. — Two years after recreational marijuana was legalized in Minnesota, retailers across the state are starting cannabis sales.

The state's Office of Cannabis Management says Legacy Cannabis in Duluth opened Tuesday, and several Twin Cities retailers, including RISE Dispensaries and Green Goods, started their adult-use sales Wednesday, to name a few.

"It's very exciting. It's taken a long time to get here, but we're happy to be here," Ben Kovler, CEO of RISE Dispensaries, said.

At their New Hope location Wednesday morning, dozens of shoppers stopped in.

"I thought it was going to happen 15 years ago," Dorcee Higby said of recreational cannabis.

"I'm glad it did though," Pam Klaphake said. "It's about time."
